AR Game

(2016)

Escaping the Kishle is an augmented reality game that takes place in the Kishle, an archaeological site/structure adjacent to the Tower of David Museum in Jerusalem’s Old City. The structure was erected by Ibrahim Pasha in 1834 and was used by the Ottomans as the soldiers’ barracks (‘kishle’) and later as the prison during the British Mandate. Excavations were done at the site unearthed archaeological remains dating back to the 6th century BCE.

Escaping the Kishle game takes its players on a journey through many periods of Jerusalem’s history discovered on the site.  The game, created by Zombie Rat, won the first place at the ‘Hacking the Wall’ hackathon in 2016.
