2015
One of the most impressive ancient synagogues in the Land of Israel was built in the 4th century CE in the village of Arbel. The village is situated on the Arbel Plateau in the eastern Lower Galilee with breathtaking views of the Sea of Galilee, the Jordan Valley, the Golan Heights and other surrounding areas. The synagogue was intentionally constructed with large limestone blocks without mortar (drywall construction) in order to set its light color apart from surrounding houses that were built with dark basalt stone.
